I’m Șerban Busuioc, professional translator and interpreter from and into Romanian, English and German. My path in this profession began in 2012 with my admission to the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Bucharest, in the Translation, Interpreting and Terminology department. After an Erasmus semester at the Technical University of Cologne I attended a master’s degree in translation studies at the University of Vienna.

Since then I have worked as a translator and interpreter both as a freelancer and for various renowned companies and institutions such as the European Commission, Opel and Roche, as well as for dynamic e-commerce start-ups such as  About You or cultural institutions like the “Friedrich Schiller” Cultural Centre of the German minority in Romania.

Thanks to all this I have gained extensive experience both in literary translation and specialised fields such as engineering, finance, medicine, marketing, social sciences or European legislation. Furthermore, I have also worked as an interpreter at multiple conferences, interviews and focus groups.

Be that as it may, all the experience in the world means nothing without professionalism, respect and, why not, a good deal of light-heartedness. Working with me means more than quality services, it also means accurate, honest and professional communication. For instance, for a quality translation, knowing the needs of the target audience is as important as a good grasp of the field. This means I always strive to find out the important facts and ask the right questions right from the get go, so as to avoid any misunderstanding further down the line. I know, nobody has the time or the patience for giving interviews, but I assure you, it will have paid off when you receive the finished product!
